Sikkens SRD was applied by a professional and he and i will never use this product again! It went on splotchy and did not penetrate following the instructions to the letter. When I complained to the manufacturer they said I would need to SAND my whole house and start over!Yeah right. It is cracking and peeling off of my decks.I should have never bought it and never will again or recomend it to anyone!

Comment:
24-year-old deck originally stained with Cetol SRD TRANSLUCENT. Lasted well and faded, did not peel. Used a solid-color stain for my second treatment which behaved badly and was completely removed, to go back to Sickens. So in August 2009 (3 years ago) I sanded the cedar to bare wood, as per sikkens prep chart, and coated with Cetol SRD semi-TRANSPARENT [I speak English, and know that transparent is clearer than translucent, and did want to avoid completely covering up the cedar]. This product went on like a solid-color stain, which was immediately disappointing. It also behaved like a solid-color stain, rather than a penetrating solvent-borne semi-transparent [see industry standard recommendations for Western Red Cedar decking on Western Red Cedar Lumber Association's website]. By August 2011, 2 years after application, this de-facto solid-color stain was cracked and peeling badly. This August I've sanded it all off and will prep and apply a true solvent-borne semi-transparent stain. The difference will be that if it behaves properly it will fade and require only cleaning and reapplication rather than complete removal.
Note that I've contacted the manufacturer by email, phone, dealer visit and conversation with the local rep, and had no help or acknowledgment.
Take it from me. This is a stain you do not want to put on your cedar deck.
