Comment:
I have used All Clad for years, and short of a set of hand hammered coppers, it's some of the best cookware around. None of this thick bottom, thin walled construction that will burn a sauce which is common with so many brands. After 20+ years of heavy use, a handle has never loosened in the slightest. You can pass this stuff down to your heirs. If they are good cooks, they'll be grateful.

I went to culinary school, and cooked professionally for some years. I have high standards for cookware, and I am willing to pay for the best. But that is the only downside I can think of with All Clad. If you are on a budget, you will probably only be getting on piece at a time. In this case, you get what you pay for, unlike some of the brands which CR has rated higher, surprisingly.

I've owned All-Clad for over 20 years with 32 pieces in my collection and never had any issues. If it ever failed in any manner it was immediately replaced by All-Clad, no quesitons asked. Sure the pans may be somewhat heavy but they retain heat and cook evenly without hotspots.

As for warping; I've placed my pans in a 500F oven for finishing and broiled at 1850F and never had a problem. On the other hand, immersing a hot pan in or rinsing with cold water can cause warpage which should never be done for safety reasons.

Since most of my collection in Master Chef 2 and Stainless I never place them in the dishwasher due to oxidation/ discoloration. They're easily cleaned with Bar Keepers Friend and a Dobie pad after removing debris with a stiff kitchen brush. Bar Keepers Friend beings back the bright stainless sheen.

Comment:
The handles are truly terrible. I have had the large skillet for over five years and thought all heavy cookware had to be painful to lift. Then I bought an Analon skillet and experienced well balanced, rounded handles. That skillet is heavy also, but not torture to lift when full of food.
Also, I am very disappointed that after five years the pan has warped. It is no longer flat on the cooking surface which makes it virtually useless. I expected better from a pan that cost $100+.
