I bought this set of knives for my wife for Christmas. I did alot of research on Chicago Cutlery, Paula Deen, and other various knife sets. I read so many reviews I almost went cross-eyed. . The forged set compared to other knives that are stamped are going to hold a sharp edge for a very long time. These knives are high carbon which make for a strong knife. I also bought her a honing rod so that she can maintain that sharpness. My wife, who loves to cook, is a combination of Paula Deen and Rachael Ray doesnt have real big hands. Her hands are rather small. She loves the knives because they are lightweight, and are comfortable. She says they feel like an extension of her and are not heavy and cumbersome to use. She likes the fact that theres a built in sharpener, so she doesnt have to go hunting down her old sharpener. The design is very sleek and modern and adds a sophisticacted look to any kitchen. Please read the enclosed instructions and care tips to keep your set looking new, and sharp for a very long time. Keep it handy. NEVER put any of these knives in the dishwasher. The intense heat, detergent and moisture may cause them to start rusting. I would suggest that you get a honing steel at the same time to help maintain their sharpness. To those that use the knives, and dont hone them or care for them and complain that theyve lost their sharp edge need to keep in mind that EVERY professional chef will tell you to hone your knife before and after every use so that you always have a sharp blade.I also bought these knives because of their life time warranty If something goes wrong, or the knife breaks, which I highly doubt any one of them ever would, I can always get a replacement. To some, these knives may seem a little pricey, but, Im here to tell you that they are worth the price.I hope this review is helpful to you in your consideration of purchasing this product. I know that you wont be let down.

I bought this set of knives for my wife for Christmas. Before buying these knives, I did alot of research on Chicago Cutlery, Paula Deen, and other various knife sets. I read so many reviews I almost went cross-eyed. I read alot of reviews mostly on Chicago Cutlery, and Paula Deens knife sets. This particular set had some very high reviews compared to some of Paula Deens knife sets. Paula Deens 14 piece set had some very good reviews and I did buy them from Foodnetwork.com, however that little voice inside told me to cancel the order. Something kept telling me after reading the reviews and comments that I would want to go with the Forum Forged set. I had cancelled the order I had placed with Foodnetwork.com next day. And Im glad I did. It was an excellent choice. The forged set compared to other knives that are stamped are going to hold a sharp edge for a very long time. These knives are high carbon which make for a strong knife. For Christmas I also bought her a honing rod so that she can maintain that sharpness. Both of us are in the food service industry, working for different companies. We are both managers, and know how to run a kitchen, and hold very high standards about what comes out of our kitchens. My wife, who loves to cook, is a combination of Paula Deen and Rachael Ray. Shes been talking about attending culinary school. Shes of small stature, so she doesnt have real big hands. Her hands are rather small. She loves the knives because they are lightweight, and are comfortable. She says they feel like an extension of her and are not heavy and cumbersome to use. Maybe its me, but the balance seems to be off, with the weight of the knife being at the blade end. Maybe thats the way it was intended. But no complaints from the wife about this. She likes the fact that theres a built in sharpener, so she doesnt have to go hunting down her old sharpener. The design is very sleek and modern and adds a sophisticacted look to any kitchen. The block is almost a dead-on match with our kitchen cabinets, which is almost a honey oak type color, maybe just a bit lighter. Its almost like the knives were made for our kitchen. I would suggest to anyone who decides to purchase these knives to please read the enclosed instructions and care tips to keep your set looking new, and sharp for a very long time. Keep it handy. But one piece of advice I will pass along right now, is, NEVER put any of these knives in the dishwasher. The intense heat, detergent and moisture may cause them to start rusting. I would also suggest that you get a honing steel at the same time to help maintain their sharpness. I purchased the diamond tip honing rod that was also available at our local Wal-Mart store. To those that use the knives, and dont hone them or care for them and complain that theyve lost their sharp edge need to keep in mind that EVERY professional chef will tell you to hone your knife before and after every use so that you always have a sharp blade. Ive also included a link to a video on how to hone a knife. The video is done by Chef Ramsay. Its simple, and easy to understand. You can also go to Youtube.com and look at other videos on how to hone your knives to keep them sharp. Over the years of being in food service Ive learned that a dull knife is far more dangerous and difficult to use than a sharp knife.I also bought these knives because of their life time warranty If something goes wrong, or the knife breaks, which I highly doubt any one of them ever would, I can always get a replacement. To some, these knives may seem a little pricey, but, Im here to tell you that they are worth the price. Wal-Mart also carries a knife set from Farberware and from Main Stays, which of course are cheaper, but this set, blows Farberware out of the water. And Main Stays should be embarrassed of putting out a piece of junk.I hope this review is helpful to you in your consideration of purchasing this product. I know that you wont be let down.
