great balance, very sharp as long as you take care of them. This goes for any sharpened tool, you need to take care of them and sharpen them, or have them sharpened appropriately, with that being said, they hold an edge quite well, do their job and do not break the bank. Overall a quality buy. I've had mine now for just about three years and don't see an end to their use anywhere in sight.

I love the set. I do wish it came with the scissors already because that was an extra $15. I do like serrated steak knives, but these are not. They can be very sharp, however, but I haven't discovered the benefit of a non-serrated steak knife. That really is my only complaint.
