About - Pur FM-3700B

The Pur FM-3700B is part of the water filter test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, water filter models like the FM-3700B are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Lead removal:
Lead removal indicates the percentage of lead that was removed by each filter.

Chloroform removal:
Chloroform removal rates the percentage of chloroform removed. A filter's ability to remove chloroform predicts how well it will remove organic compounds as well as byproducts created by disinfectants used by water systems.

Flow rate:
Flow rate is how fast a gallon of water filtered through the cartridge. The criteria for flow rate scores differ between different types of filters. Faucet-mount, countertop, and undersink models have the same criterion; carafes and reverse osmosis models each have their own.
About This Brand

Helen of Troy's PUR brand dominates the faucet-mounted market. The manufacturer offers a wide range of products with features such as a filter-life indicator. Its major introduction has been the Flavor Option faucet filter, which can add five fruit flavors to the filtered water with the push of a button. It's available at national chains such as Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Sears and at hardware and plumbing-supply stores, drug stores, and online retailers

Hard to keep on faucet but found a fix.

Pros
Good Water Taste
Cons
Not Enough Threads
Best Uses
Comment:
This unit does not have enough threads and is too heavy when filled with water so it often came off during use. My husband solved this by attaching a 55/64 garden hose aerator adapter.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
Used for years and USED to be a good product, the filtered water may still be OK, but the adapters LEAK and therefore I am abandoning this product.

ConsumerReports (via their high recommendation, in light of numerous complaints here and elsewhere) does not listen to it's subscribers NOR does PUR/KAZ and it's customers. They just keep on failing to be effective and YOU can not make them care.

Stop spending and see who notices...

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
I have purchased two of these units and have had the same issue with both. After a few months the plastic faucet adapter keeps popping off my faucet causing water to spray everywhere. I have tried everything from thread tape to cleaing the calcium from my faucet. I am ready to go to another brand.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
