About - Pur FM-3700B

The Pur FM-3700B is part of the water filter test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, water filter models like the FM-3700B are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Lead removal:
Lead removal indicates the percentage of lead that was removed by each filter.

Chloroform removal:
Chloroform removal rates the percentage of chloroform removed. A filter's ability to remove chloroform predicts how well it will remove organic compounds as well as byproducts created by disinfectants used by water systems.

Flow rate:
Flow rate is how fast a gallon of water filtered through the cartridge. The criteria for flow rate scores differ between different types of filters. Faucet-mount, countertop, and undersink models have the same criterion; carafes and reverse osmosis models each have their own.
About This Brand

Helen of Troy's PUR brand dominates the faucet-mounted market. The manufacturer offers a wide range of products with features such as a filter-life indicator. Its major introduction has been the Flavor Option faucet filter, which can add five fruit flavors to the filtered water with the push of a button. It's available at national chains such as Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Sears and at hardware and plumbing-supply stores, drug stores, and online retailers

Comment:
This filter leaked within a day or two of installation. Primarily leaks where the unit attaches to the faucet probably because the fitting is made from cheap plastic. In addition there is leaking around the threaded filter cap. Also, the filtered water stream is very low flow. Finally ended up returning the unit. Would never recommend purchasing a PUR filter. Very cheaply made...all plastic. I don't understand how CR rated it so highly. Disappointing review in light of the fact I depend on CR for good purchasing recommendations.

I have used PUR sucessfully in the past. I have had the same reviewer reported poor results with the new 1-click system. Severe leaking from the adapter seams. Unit has fallen off the faucet. I have contacted KAZ numerous times. I received replacement adapters that still leak at the same place. I have exchanged 2 units. I will try the garden hose adapter suggestion from a reviewer before I throw in the towel.
