Stainless-steel grates Primary cooking grates made of stainless-steel are generally sturdier than those made of coated steel and resist rust even without a porcelain coating.
Stainless-steel grates
No
Coated-cast-iron grates The grill's primary cooking grates may be made of porcelain coated cast-iron, which generally sears meats better and keeps grilling temperatures more consistent than grates made of porcelain coated steel. The porcelain coating usually makes such grates easier to clean than other surfaces, and the grates should resist rust as long as their porcelain coating isn't chipped.

All or mostly stainless Includes more than just a panel or other trim. Based on our limited tests, nonmagnetic stainless is less likely to corrode.

Long-warranty burners While burners remain the grill's most-replaced part, most are warranted for only 3 to 5 years. Better burners are covered for 10 years or more.
Long-warranty burners
Yes
Side burner A side burner, which resembles a gas-stove burner and has its own heat control, is handy if you want to cook vegetables or sauce without leaving the grill. A side burner could also be an infrared burner used for searing.
Side burner
Yes
Infrared burner Gas burner that uses infrared technology (ceramic burner, plates and screens, or troughs as some examples) for cooking. An indirect flame is used for cooking food. Burner can be located as the main burner, side burner, rotisserie burner, or any combination of burners.
Grill will not heat up in cold or windy weather. In good weather it takes 12 minutes to cook a hamburg on the highest heat setting.
In 3 years I have replaced the electronic starter 3 times. I have also replaced the entire burner assembly.

Comment:
I am honestly disappointed of Consumer Reports on this one. We purchased this model on the Best Buy recommendation by CR and it has shown to be a very poor grill from the beginning. We have been grilling for more than 25 years and this is unfortunately the worst grill we have ever own. Right now we have own this grill for 14 months and so far:

- At the beginning, the grill got hot, very hot with no searing possibilities since the flame is not directed at the food but to the bottom plate. Anything with sauce produces so much smoke than my neighbors twice though we had a fire. On top, the infrared trough captures all the grease, food or sauce that drips producing a weird flavor.

- The grill is made with thin/cheap stainless steel. Its cover bended due to extreme heat after just a few months. In CA we use the grill all the time.

- Shortly after the 1-year warranty ran out, I noticed the temperature gage no longer registered. Really?

- Next the painted dials and all other marks that tell you high medium low, etc. wore off... all of them. The paint kept flaking off until almost all is gone

- On top, we purchased a vinyl cover to make sure we protected our investment, yet, all of this kept happening

End of story? We bought this BBQ because we could not afford a Weber. Now, we are saving to buy a Weber and ready to recycle our old piece of junk.

Comment:
We have had this grill for over a year. It's great for chicken, fish, pork roasts, we have even done a leg of lamb on it. Frankly, it cooks more like an oven than a grill. Which is good for some foods, but very disappointing if you like a little char on your meat. Again, great for roasting-cooking, keeps food moist and cooks fast....but you won't get that BBQ-char flavor.
