Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on gas grill models like the 16156.

Stainless-steel grates:
Primary cooking grates made of stainless-steel are generally sturdier than those made of coated steel and resist rust even without a porcelain coating.

All or mostly stainless:
Includes more than just a panel or other trim. Based on our limited tests, nonmagnetic stainless is less likely to corrode.

Long-warranty burners:
While burners remain the grill's most-replaced part, most are warranted for only 3 to 5 years. Better burners are covered for 10 years or more.

Tested Model
The Ratings of Kenmore 16136 were applied to untested model Kenmore 16156, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Very Good overall Performance
Easy To Use
Even Heat
Best Uses
The Rotisserie Burner is small but powerful. I haven't had to replace any burners or their covers as have other reviewers and I've had the grill almost two years. I live in the Northeast so it's exposed to alot of different weather although I try to keep it covered and it still works great even though I use it all year probably at least 3 times a week. The burners are powerful and the stainless steel grates work nice.

Best Uses
The burners and burner covers need to be replaced about every 4 months. They are available but very pricy. Be prepared to pay around $100 with shipping. The grease catcher is in a precarious position and needs to be accessed from the back. Because you cannot take it out easily it makes a huge mess every time it has to be emptied.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Seems like every year we purchase a new gas grill. At first I was hesitant because it was a Kenmore, but after building and using this grill I became convinced. This is a sturdy grill, with stainless heavy racks, that are easy to clean. We grill 4 times a week, from ribs to chops. The price didn't bother me. I've paid a lot more for a grill that had a lot less options. We went to several retail stores before returning to were we purchased this Kenmore.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
