I ordered the Sears S3218ANB bbq and picked up the assembled bbq. I had to return it because of scratches on it and a crooked door.
When they emailed me saying they had the grill ready, I returned the one I had (and found out that I had been given a wrong model anyway). They loaded the new one while I did the paperwork.
When I got home I saw that one side of the hood had a lot of what looked like scorch marks. Looking closer, I (and 2 other at the house) saw that one side of the SS tray looked like it had been broken and welded to fix it. Unfortunately, they left sanding grit scratches on it and some colored marks that would not rub out.
Then, we saw the same on the other side on the SS tray there – except that this side had what looked like hammer dents in it. On a years-old bbq, or one that was half off, I'd just live with it. However, I paid for a new bbq and wanted it to at least look new until I managed to mess it up.
When I notified the store, the manager offered me a whole wopping $50 off their premium grill. Well, with service like that, they can keep their $50 because they won't find me in their store again. I gave 2 stars only because it did cook. Time will tell if the grill is better than their service.
At least I have a story to share with everyone who sees the grill.

I bought this to replace a older grill. I made the mistake of putting the grill together and converting it over from LP to Natural Gas. (took 3 hrs to put together and 4 hours to convert to natural gas) If I had it to do over I would pay to have the grill assembled. The installation by Sears does not include hooking the grill up to the natural gas. My local company wanted $220 just to hook the natural gas to the grill. ( I did it myself)

I bought a good cover but I noticed that almost immediately rust spots appeared on the grill (even though I use an excellent quality cover). When I called Sears to inquire about the rust spots, they suggested buying a service contract. I went to the local Sears store and they said the drip shields tear up within months. Each drip shield cost $40 to replace (five on this grill). The service contract was $189 plus tax for five years. I decided to buy the contract and hopefully get at least 5 years out of the grill. Needless to say but I am not impressed with the quality of the metal.

Comment:
As a long term Weber owner, I was looking for a larger, affordable grill with better heat control and more features. Needless to say, this cooks much differently than a Weber, doesn't retain as much kettle heat and took a little getting used to. Otherwise, has been all that I expected and more...easy setup, even heat, good heat control, good searing option, low flare ups, convenient night light, haven't carbonized anything yet! Overall a great grill...let's see if it lasts 15 years like the Weber.
