Wedding-planning portals
Web sites such as WeddingChannel.com, Organic Weddings, and The Knot are one-stop portals for your wedding planning (and the
honeymoon, too). Although WeddingChannel.com and The Knot have vast amounts of information to wade through, these sites are
generally easy to get around, with clearly spelled out privacy, security, and return policies. Organic Weddings is a smaller,
more focused site catering to the environmentally conscious couple. It offers plenty of useful information and planning tools,
and a small registry service for eco-friendly products.
All three of these wedding-planning portals have customer-service phone numbers and e-mail for any problems or questions you
may have (although the phone number for Organic Weddings is not toll free).
What makes The Knot, WeddingChannel.com, and Organic Weddings stand out are some unique--and free--features they provide.
All three sites offer online wedding gift registries and lists of vendors offering wedding services, grouped by geographical
location. (The Knot covers 80 cities, WeddingChannel.com has 70 regions across the U.S., and Organic Weddings covers the entire
country, dividing it into four regions.) Geographical listings of wedding professionals are a very helpful resource, allowing
you to quickly and easily find wedding planners, florists, caterers, photographers, and other professionals from a centralized
place.
The Knot and WeddingChannel.com provide access to free wedding Web sites to all registered site users, and they're easy to
build. There are also local message boards on which couples can ask questions or get advice from other wedding couples in
their same town or city.
