Battery type The type of batteries provided with the drill. All are rechargeable. The more common type is denoted NiCd, for its nickel-cadmium components. Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries boast added energy for their weight. Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries are the latest type and deliver even more power in a smaller size. Lithium-ion and NiMH batteries can be disposed of with regular refuse; NiCd must be recycled.

Li-ion
Battery recharge time (min.) How long it takes to completely recharge a battery after it has properly cooled down. Most of the fast chargers have a built-in temperature sensor that delays the charging cycle, when the battery is too hot from recent heavy use, to when the battery has cooled.
Battery recharge time (min.)
180-300
Speed ranges Many cordless drills have two separate speed ranges, or gear ratios; some newer models have three. The slower speed range peaks at about 400 revolutions per minute (rpm) and provides increased torque (twisting force) for driving large screws. A higher speed range that reaches about 1,500 rpm or more is well suited for rapid drilling. Lower-priced drills usually have a single speed range that tops out at approximately 600 to 800 rpm, compromising both driving and drilling performance.
I am a former auto technician with many other older professional and light duty tools. I bought this for my wife for 'round the house light repairs. We barely used it and it will not charge, motor does not even budge one bit. It still looks like it just came out of the box. Save the loot and buy a higher price point product or something that has better reviews. Maybe, I will take it back and ask for pitty. Otherwise, it's off to the landfill. Had high hopes since it was a name brand and cute size for my wife. Disappointing.

I do not recommend that anyone buy this product. I received it as a gift and hardly used it all. Now the battery is completely dead and SKIL offers nothing other than for me to pay and replace the unit. I am going to replace it....but with a Black&Decker cordless drill not SKIL.

I have used this product for a number of different small projects around the apartment (and now house).

It is inexpensive, light weight, and has a good battery life. I just bought a house and have used it off an on through out the day for multiple small projects on a single charge.

It is low powered. It has no problems with predrilled holes, but will have some problems with putting larger screws into solid wood.

It has 10 or 11 torque settings, which doesn't mean much since it is far from a high torque tool. It would do just as well if it only had 3.

With a set of quick change bits, it makes a good little tool. It would be nice if it had a little more power, but for assembling things or installing hardware it does the job.

Unless you're planning on doing some real construction where you need the torque, I would definitely recommend it.
