Side discharging:
A combination of evenness, which is how close the tractor or rider came to even, carpet-like mowing, and how evenly clippings were dispersed from the side-discharge chute.

Mulching:
Reflects a combination of evenness, which is how close the tractor or rider came to even, carpet-like mowing, and how completely the mower distributed its clippings over the lawn's surface.

About This Brand

Craftsman is one of the market leaders in lawn mower and tractor sales. Most of the models in the Craftsman line are made by Husqvarna. Craftsman lawn tractors run the price spectrum from gear-drive models priced at about $1,000 to fully-featured hydrostatic drive units that cost more than $2,000. Most Craftsman lawn tractors feature Briggs & Stratton engines, and the 42-inch-deck models are among the most popular. The majority of Craftsman lawn mowers are gas powered, but the company offers a corded electric and an electric rechargeable model. Most models feature either a Honda or Briggs & Stratton engine and have side-discharge, rear-bag, and mulching modes. Craftsman also markets a line of garden tractors and zero-turn riders. Craftsman products are sold at Sears, Kmart, and online at Sears.com.

Pros
Overall Good Machine
Cons
Steering Wheel Hurts
Best Uses
Comment:
I've always/only bought Sears Tractors and have always had good use from them. I still use my previous Sears tractor for mowing rocks and pulling a trailer around.<br /> This new tractor has a poorly designed Steering Wheel. The underside has hollow parts and sharp edges. I just finished mowing and Cutting my finger again. There is no reason to have sharp edges on a steering wheel. I'm going to try switching steering wheels with the older machine and see if they interchange. Then I can get cut less often.

This tractor has doubled my money back!

Pros
Adjustable Cut-Lengths
Decent Gas Efficiency
Dependable Easy Start
Enough Power For Hills
Rather Easy Cleanup
Cons
Heavy
Best Uses
Large Yard Areas
Comment:
These models are available most anywhere and offer good value for the bucks. With a blower cleaning after each use, oil and air filter changes once a year, a little battery charging, and this unit just keeps on purring.
