I am very angry about this machine. I have had to spend more money in repairs than I originally paid for the bloody thing. Customer support is non existant when you need them. IMO do not spend any money on the LXT1040

Comment:
When cutting on an angle, it is very easy to fall out of the seat. Seat support is poor. Often times, gets stuck going uphill due to what seems to be poorly designed rear tires which fail to move the tractor uphill because they spin freely instead of griping the lawn.

Comment:
Bought in summer 2009, now 8/2013, 118 hrs. on meter.<br />I mow my lawn, fencelines, short growth pastures for a total of up to 3 acres per outing. Only maintenance problem was battery not starting after 2 years of use; bought new one from local retail store-no more problems. The trans shifter sticks a little, it doesn't always seat itself in the forward or reverse position so I give it a little extra tap to seat it. So warts and all, we really are glad we bought this mower. I tend to kill machinery but this one is a tough little guy. I own 20+ acres and use tractors and other heavy equipment, so I know what is doing the job and what doesn't. It is a true best buy for my money.
