Cub Cadet RZT-S 46 inch deck....
Starts and steers great....
The exhaust system literally burns the grass if you stop moving only for a short time.
I have numerous one foot long brown spots in the lawn from this mowers exhaust.

I installed the mulch plug and mulching blades on this 46 inch deck...the mowing deck acts as if it has a blower in the front of it!!...it blows everything away from the mowing deck !!!
The lawn does not have the just mowed look.

I have a Toro 38 inch mower with mulch blades and mulch plug, it grooms the lawn and actually sucks loose leaves into the mower deck.

I re-mowed lawn with the Toro and it mulched all the loose leaves and the lawn had that neatly groomed just mowed look.

So much for mulching dry loose leaves with this Cub Cadet mower!!

Poor design of the exhaust and the mower deck !!

I bought this mower earlier this summer as I was picking up another yard or too to cut on the side. On of the big selling points was the fact that it had the steering wheel for the ZTR instead of the lapbars. I asked for a mulching kit to be put on the mower with the high lift gator blades and the discharge shoot block. When using the mower, an excessise amount of trash comes out from the front center of the deck, directly back on me. Not only does the trash come back on the operater, but it gets into the steering housing causing it hard to turn at times. YOu have to stop and blow it out in order for it to operater properly. Dealer says I don't need both the gater blades and the discharge chute block. I had it on my Husquavarna and did not have that problem. Wrote to Cub Cadet and surprisingly they called and instructed me to try something. I told them that we had alreay tried that. They called the dealer but he wasn't available and hasn't called them back because he said he didn't have 30 minutes to be on hold with them. I think this is a design problem. I am ready to sell this mower after only 2 months of use. Not sure I will go with another Cub Cadet product.

Comment:
Initial problem never really resolved by shop was the sod blades would die in a sweeping pattern at a right turn. Problem was intermittent no fuel leaks never resolved the problem it disappeared after a few months and occasionally returns. The blades are expensive. There are no after market blades available other than from Cub Cadet. I have 2 acres 1 of which is level turf 1/2 acre of actual sod. The mower does well in that environment. The balance of the land is grass covered but irregular the mower scarfs the turf and he blades are prone to damage. If you intend to use this mower for anything other than a lawn surface consider something else.

The steering wheel is a nice feature. Turns as well as a zero-turn with bars. Does not tear up the turf when making quick turns. Easy oil changes and maintenance is easy. It is a fine looking mower well designed for care of level or rolling sod laws. Blade changes are simple taking only minutes with the proper tools.

After a year or so I've lost that great Cub Cadet cut my lawn has uneven cutting the tires properly inflated, deck properly aligned and the blades new. I'm trying to resolve the problem I bought the mower for that Cub Cadet cut.
