Comment:
I am a push mower person, I do not like self propelled mowers due to higher purchase prices, cumbersome handling, lower reliability and higher overall maintenance costs. This is my first Cub Cadet mower, and so far I am extremely happy with it. I had been a Sears Craftsmen buyer for over 30 years, but the last couple of mowers just did not hold up as well as my older models.

I use my mower to cut approximately 70' x 220' lot with significant slope. I have to cut around several established trees, picket fences, and extensive flower beds. I used this mower for half a cutting season last year, and I resumed using it this year after changing oil and checking plug and filter. The mower has always started with one good pull.

The mower represents a very good value. I would classify the mower medium weight compared to previous push mowers I owned. However, it seems very well built and is fairly easy to maneuver and push around my sloping yard and obstacles. The mower does a very good job cutting (bagging or mulching). I cut grass regularly and try to never let it get too long - cutting about 1/3 of its length at a time. .

I agree with other reviewer that when emptying bag, significant cuttings drop and need to be picked up by hand then run over again once mower is restarted. I found the shut off handle grip pinches my hands a bit while cutting.

This mower is a very good overall value. If you want quality construction, reliable starts, straight forward maintenance and a nice cut either bagging or mulching you will like the SC100 mower. It has a reasonable purchase price, low maintenance for a DIYer, and proven to be a very good purchase.

Comment:
Just like Consumer Reports said, this mower is top of the line in performance. I do have a problem with starting the engine when it's cold. It will take 4-6 pulls to start. I can't figure out just why. After the first start, one pull only.

Comment:
In general, the mower is easy to use, starts easily, does a decent job of cutting the grass, and is a good value. However, I have some criticisms: The wheel height adjustment is only in one inch increments, so fine tuning the cutting height is not an option. Beware: Start with a high setting and work your way down - my first pass at three inches scalded the grass! I've also found the grass catcher to be difficult to reinstall, and it is rather small so it needs to be emptied regularly. And lastly, the design of the chute closure for the bag is such that it holds clippings in a recess, and dumps a pretty significant amount of clippings when you remove the catcher!
