Comment:
I have a very small yard and did not want to deal with a gas mower. At first I was excited to have a push mower that was electric but found it heavy, hard to maneuver and then, worst of all, unreliable. The battery doesn't charge correctly. The retailer advised me to buy a new mower instead of fixing or replacing the battery. It is incredibly disappointing to me.

Comment:
I'm in my 5th cutting season with the Toro. Before 2005 I used an 18 inch electric corded mower until I bought a home a with a lawn of 5000 plus square feet. The cord and the narrow 18cutting width required too much time. I purchased a gas powered 20 mulching mower and was disappointed by the mulching and the amount of money and time on maintenance and messing with gasoline. At the time there were few 20 battery operated mowers on the market. The main selling point was that the Toro manual indicated that the battery would not overcharge and did not require to be stored indoors during the winter. I bought the Toro in 2008. I was first impressed by it's mulching capability and since then rarely rake in the autumn and instead just run the lawnmower over the leaves regardless if grass needs cutting or not. The Toro has two batteries; the engine is driven by a motorcycle type battery tandem wired to a car-type of battery and that might explain why there in never a drop off in power from the beginning of cutting/mulching until completion. I keep the blade very sharp and balanced which I think is very important for electric lawn mowers. I'm using my second blade since purchasing the mower. In 2010 I noticed a flutter when letting off of the power handle. I removed the cowl and found that the nut on top of the electric motor was loosening. I removed the nut applied a liquid nut/bolt glue to the threads and put the nut back on the motor. I have been operating the mower without problems since then. Two different neighbors just this summer just realized that I was using an electric mower. They both thought I had a very quite gas powered mower and asked me where I got it. My son uses the mower to cut some of other neighbors lawns too.

Comment:
We decided to rid ourselves of the maintenance of a gas-powered for our small lawn. Generally, this is a good product, with some caveats: slow your roll-cuts best if you push at a slower speed: keep your blade sharp- learn how to sharpen your own blade 'cuz you're going to have to do it 2-3 times during the cutting season: remember- it IS battery-powered, so plan on it quitting on you at some point and having to be re-charged in mid-cut. Overall, it is a good low-maintenance machine that is reliable, quiet and easy to use
