What a great find. I shopped several brands based on CR's views and bought this personal pace model. Absolutely no problems from the first pull to start the engine. Mulched high grass so well, I thought I was bagging! No problem pulling the mower backwards like was mentioned in one review I read.

I bought this to replace my old Toro Super Recycler. My son's would have preferred a lawn service but they didn't get a vote. The main concern on this new model was the new OHV engine made in China. It still has the 5 year warranty but the dealer warned me that using gas with Ethanol would void it. It's hard to find no Ethanol gas so hopefully it won't be an issue. <br />Anyway, the unit starts great, runs great and is much more fuel efficient than it's predecessor. Toro makes a great mulching mower! I haven't tried the bag or side discharge and don't intend to. I'm hoping the reliability is as good as the mower it replaced but only time will tell.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

The variable speed is very hard to control. When I'm done mowing I feel like I'd been riding a bucking bronco. When you raise the front wheels to turn, even a small amount the speed will wildly vary. I've adjusted the drive cable ( dealer showed me how. When trimming around something and baking up the back wheels often lock up. I wish I had my 5 speed John Deere back. The dealer has tried to help.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
