Four-cycle engine Uses straight gasoline and doesn't require an oil/gasoline mixture, as do the more common two-cycle engines used on most trimmers.
I have had this blower for over 8 years and it's performed great. Very powerful. It's taken a lot of unintental abuse and has held up well. It only just failed, most likely due to too small of an extension cord. The motor still works, but the high amp draw melted the plug on the blower. It's the older design, where the AC prongs protruded directly from the motor housing. The new design with the dongle should last much better. Hope to get 10+ years out of the new one! Use a good extension cord.

I bought my blower May 4,2004 (it was model 51591 back then)and it only lasted about 2 weeks and burned out. I took it in for warrenty and they replaced it but the nice man was stumped as to why it had burned out. When we discussed how I had been using it and the extension chord he suggested I look at the gauge and make sure it was strong enough for the machine. I was using two chords to go the length I needed which was 150 ft. & it turned out they were cheap and not the right gauge. (They were orange heavy gauge but they were 16 gauge and I went down to the heavier 12 gauge.) I got the right ones needed and the machine lasted from mid June 2004 until Sept 2011 when it broke. (I believe it had been dropped???) The machine would start but not blow. I bought another one and expect it to last longer as others won't have access to it. I used that blower during those years twice a week (2 houses) after cutting the lawns and weedwacking. Then in the fall it really got a work-out with both homes having huge amounts of leaves being mulched. I am 60 yrs old and in so-so shape and used this for up to 1 1/2 hr at a time....it was so light weight it was no problem. My old Craftsman hurt my back after 10 mins and didn't blow 1/2 as well. This is a great machine!
