Long Rural Driveway
This blower starts right up and will throw the snow as fast as you care to walk. I have a long asphalt drive on a hill with a few tree root lumps in it. Previous machines had problems with the bumps or dragged me down the incline. Between the weight and the multiple speeds (easily engaged) I can go smoothly up and down the drive at my own pace. Apron clearing is smooth in low gear no matter how compacted the plow remains are.

This unit is excellent for normal driveway clearing but I'm a little nervous about the auger assembly and this might be a fairly unusual situation, so bear that in mind. The construction is basically fine, but the flange bearings on both the main auger shaft and the secondary impeller shaft are made of plastic and one has already failed when I hit a big obstacle (a heavy door mat). It wound itself into the augers but the shear pins did not completely break off. The resulting strain put too much load on the impeller flange and it lodged itself over the shear pin receptacle. I had to drill it out. To it's credit, it still works great without the plastic flange! Just a slight wobble. So, I'm still going with this unit because it just hands down clears snow better than anything I have ever used in my almost half century of cleaning my driveway) and a couple of neighbors). My neighbor saw me using it and said he thought there was something wrong with his own (an Ariens) because I was clearing so much faster and throwing snow a lot farther. He was impressed. I should also mention this snow thrower cuts through plow banks steadily at low speed without ANY hesitation or choking. It leaves a perfect cut through heavy compacted snow about 3 feet deep. That's amazing and I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a big driveway.
