About - Cub Cadet 524SWE 31AM53TR

The Cub Cadet 524SWE 31AM53TR is a snow blower available from Cub Cadet. The 524SWE 31AM53TR typically costs $850 .

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on snow blower models like the 524SWE 31AM53TR.

Engine size:
Engine Size is the engine displacement measured in cubic centimeters for gasoline powered engines. Most manufacturers not longer give a horsepower rating. Engine displacement is now the only universal way to compare relative engine size. Electric motors are stated in amps.

Electric start:
Most models offer a plug-in startng device that saves you the hassle of pull-starting the engine, but you need to be near an outlet.

Multiple speeds:
For two-stage models, most come with multiple forward speeds and two reverse speeds. The ability to vary ground speed according to snow conditions gets the job done faster. Some of the least expensive two-stage models have only one forward speed.

Tested Model
The Ratings of Craftsman 88173 were applied to untested model Cub Cadet 524SWE 31AM53TR, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
Great snow blower that I use to clean driveway and walkways. Quick and efficient snow blower, that is easy to handle and blows through snow piles, wet compact snow and regular snow with out missing a beat. Like the headlight, easy turn feature and the fact it starts so easily (use pull rope which starts it on 2nd to 3rd pull).Easy to gas up , check oil and is compact enough to get through smaller gates around yard. Very happy with this unit.

Comment:
Starts on the first hit of the electric starter every time (after you plug it in which is no big deal!), we have a very wide street so the plow piles on my side always seem to be 3-4 ft high with very large chunks, and this bad boy just cuts right through it. Only problem I had last winter was with the 20+ snowfall that turned wet as it ended. Had to work a bit harder then to get it removed, but with smaller swaths in the plow piles (only) it still made short work of the snow. On the sidewalks (corner lot) and the driveway where there are no plow piles, no snowfall has slowed this thing up yet, just be careful if you are clearing a sidewalk near your house that you watch where you are shooting the snow as this thing throws the snow hard and far!!

Best purchase I made in the past 5 years and a huge upgrade from the single stage thrower I had at my last house! Would definitely buy this again, and the headlight is very nice!

the easy turn feature works very well. Easily handled a six plus inch snowfall on my 60 foot paved driveway. Also liked the operating speed choices.
