Buy a Snapper Never a Crapsman

Comment:
Snappers are the best. I had a small single stage when I lived down state in Michigan and it was great. When I moved North I gave up on my little buddy because of the amount of snow and the area I had to clear. I bought a 30 Crapsman. It was good for a couple of years but nothing Crapsman builds is made to last any longer. After several years of daily repairs to keep it running it broke on me one last time. I went out the next day and bought my new snapper and have been smiling ever since! It runs like a bull and throws snow like crazy. The only knock I have on it is the light placement. It should be centered and possibly built into the bracket between the handles. It hangs off a side and I have almost ripped it off a couple times already. It is noisy too but what snowthrower isn't?

Comment:
This was the first major purchase after buying my first home on a corner lot. Considering the substantial amount of snow NJ has gotten this year. This was the best purchase I could have made. All the pieces are solid(most are metal) not like plastic chutes you find on cheaper models. The blower starts up right away on the electric start or on just one pull on the manual cord. The variable speed transmission is great and having 2 reverse speeds is awesome especially in deep snow. The Snapper is loud, but then again, I didnt want to buy something quiet and cheap that cant handle big snow moving. It handled my 14 inches of snow with no issue. It will handle just about anything

Comment:
I gave up using a tractor and plow and bought a Snapper 11 HP, 30 machine 6 years ago. Best decision I ever made. These machines are wonderful but not for the faint of heart. It takes some muscle to operate one on a slope. The electric start is an absolute must and is totally reliable. Reverse gear is quite slow. Wish they had more than one reverse speed. If you need heated hand grips, you shouldn't be out clearing snow in the first place. Make sure to change oil every year and drain all fuel from tank and lines at end of season. Start every winter with fresh, 89 octane gas and this machine will never let you down. It really throws the snow and can deal with all types of ice, packed snow and miserable conditions.
