Comment:
This type of snowblower has been around and evolving. I use it to do walks at rental houses because I can lift it and it fits in my Subaru Forester.
As for this one, I was alarmed by floppy gas tank mount, but it seems to be ok.

The major problem is that the crossbar which supports the chute turner control is secured to the thin tubing by small sheet metal screws. In my machine the bar has already torn out on one side. I solved the problem by drilling through the tubing and securing with a bolt and self locking nut. The genius reponsible for the original design should be fired.

But bottom line if you need portability, this type of machine is the only show in town. Cleans and throws well, but it takes a bit longer, you work a bit harder.

Comment:
no air filter. carb is impossible to clean all the passages after injesting dirt. only solution is to replace carberator. insainly stupid design. have removed my carberator so many times im sick of my snowblower. if i had to do it over again i would not have purchased this sears/mtd manufactured blower. it has the 208cc engine. cant find a modification to install air filter due to design. this means the problem will repeat itself. went online and this is the main fault of all 208cc engines on sears/mtd blowers.(there is no difference except the stickers and plastic shrouds. so frustrating. a nice snowblower that is constantly needing new carberators at 45.00 a year. good thing im a mechanic or the repair would be over 150.00. anybody want to buy it??? its just over a year old...

Comment:
Bought it on sale at Sears and got an additional discount for using the store card, so the price was attractive. Purchase decision was based on the ratings found on CR and am not disappointed. Used it three times this season in fairly deep snow and it performed very well, cleaned down to the pavement and threw the snow a good distance.
