Comment:
Bought this trimmer looking forward to easy propane operation. Manual says it will start in 3-5 pulls; mine typically took 30-40 pulls until system warms up. After using it twice (appox. 20 minutes of use), the metal components in the pull start system failed. Also, the ergonomics of the system were not ideal. Returning trimmer and purchasing a tried and true gas model.

We have a bit of trimming in our yard (sidewalk, landscaping, structure) and this product uses up so much line and is overall difficult to use. The product broke twice within the first couple times of using it. It is very difficult to start and is quite heavy. I am very dissatisfied with this product. It is currently broken and we have only used it a handful of times over the past 2-3 years, because it breaks every year (starter, line feed). We are going to buy something else because it is so unreliable and frustrating.

This is my second Lehr trimmer of this model. So I liked it well enough to get another one. I use it in the vertical position to do mountain bicycle trail maintenance out at Paint Creek State Park about 15 miles from where I live. A bottle of propane lasts almost a day if you're not heavy on the throttle. I go right down to the dirt. It really does a number on the vegetation in the vertical position. I had over a 100 hard hours of use on it because I cleared 2 miles of single track last year and almost another mile this year. I'll clear 3 feet on both sides of the trail after I've used a hand saw to get rid of saplings, thorny vines etc. I ground out the bump feed head with a drill so now I have to use a socket to tighten and looses the nut when I need to add line. But this makes it very easy to bump feed line out. The last day of use it was real hard to get started. But once started and warmed up it restarted OK. Near the end of the day it would stall out on idle. So I had to keep my hand on the throttle. It sounded louder than usual too. A few days later I could not get it started. I put in a new spark plug, cleaned the air filter, adjusted the intake and exhaust valve clearance, turned up the idle adjustment screw an eighth of a turn but nothing worked. So I decided to just get a new one. I figured I just wore out the old one and if I could get over 100 hours of use out of it then it would be worth it to me. So far I used the new trimmer a couple hours on the trail. Then about 35 minutes at home a few days later and it stalled on me and I can't get it started. I like the fact that it uses propane instead of gasoline and I can't use my corded electric out on the trail. So I hope Lehr will be able to help me since I've only had the new one for four days.
