Comment:
We purchased the Ryobi RY24200 from Home Depot in Maui and used it three times for light grass triming on a very small Maui grass yard before we could not get it to start. We returned it and Home Depot kindly replaced it as there is no Ryobi service on this island. The second one was used just three times, and again, it just seized up and would not start. We so wanted this to work for us but have replaced it with a plug-in electric trimmer.

This trimmer comes with just one battery. Why? Another one cost almost as much as the whole trimmer. Anyway, you may get by if your yard is small. The real problem I had with this trimmer is the line kept feeding out and the line blade wouldn't cut it off. This caused the line to wrap around the head shaft. For some reason, Ryobi has left enough of a gap to allow this to happen. The first time I used the trimmer this happened once. But I also used most of my line. The next two times the line kept wrapping around the shaft. I took it back for a refund with the line still wrapped around the head shaft. If B&D would make their handle 3 longer, that would be the best trimmer. It comes with an extra battery and has the power but their handle is too short and it makes it hard on your back.

Comment:
Both I (mom) and my 12-year-old son love the way this edges. It rolls on wheels and really does the job. We have only a 6000 s.f. lot with small lawn areas that need edging, plus trimming along fence lines. This is lightweight, easy to handle, and you can breathe easy while using it. I have never had a gas model and never will. Works perfectly for our needs. The battery charges up very fast, though we've never had to recharge during a use.
