The claim. A new Web site, Zafu.com, says women can answer eight questions about their shape, typical size, and preferences in fit and
brand, and presto! They’ll receive a free list of recommended pairs from Zafu’s database of 90 brands, plus detailed descriptions
and photos. Users can sort the list by price, brand, length, and other options. Zafu provides links to retailers that sell
the jeans.
The check. Three women with different shapes ordered jeans that Zafu said would fit. We chose jeans from three price ranges: less than
$30, $30 to $50, and more than $60.
CR’s take. Back to the dressing room. All three testers found the site fun to use, but two were dissatisfied with two of their three
pairs. One didn’t like how they fit; the other didn’t like their look. Those are good reasons to buy from merchants offering
free returns. The third tester said her three pairs fit well enough to keep them, but one was a tad short and another had
a lower rise than expected.
