Spare change?
No matter how well you budget, by journey's end you'll probably have leftover foreign money, particularly change. You can spend it in the duty-free shop, exchange it, or do some good by donating it to charity.

UNICEF's Change for Good program works with American Airlines and nine other carriers to collect spare currency on return flights. You can also mail it in from home. (The address is U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Change for Good, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038.)

Other airlines have similar initiatives. Virgin Atlantic, for example, gives to various charities through its Change for Children program.

You can also donate before you head home. For example, Save the Children solicits money at thousands of branches of large banks throughout the United Kingdom.
