Recalls: 2009 Dodge Journey—electrical problem, 2011 Dodge Ram 1500—rear axle issue

Consumer Reports News: December 30, 2010 03:08 PM

Chrysler is recalling over 65,000 2009 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured between November 1, 2007 and September 7, 2008 due to a problem with the wiring harness in the front doors. The wires may fatigue and break, which can cause the circuits for the side airbag to be interrupted, resulting in an airbag warning light to illuminate and the loss of airbag sensing capability. If a crash were to occur, the side airbag may not deploy.

Dealers will replace the left and right door wiring harness free of charge. The recall will begin in February. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Chrysler is also recalling more than 56,000 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups manufactured between September 2009 and December 2010 due to a growling or grinding noise coming from the rear axle bearing that could cause the bearing to fail. If this occurs the truck could stall.

Chrysler dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge and will notify owners in February. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
