The streaming content-on-demand service, HBO Go, is expanding to include Internet-connected TVs and game consoles. Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes told news outlets on Wednesday that people who use HBO Go end up watching more of HBO’s network content than those who don’t use the service.

HBO Go lets users bookmark content to view at a later time using a feature called Watch List feature. They can also create personalized Series Pass events, which provide automatic alerts when new episodes of HBO programs arrive. Viewers are also able to pause and rewind programs, just as they would on a DVR.

After its initial launch in early 2010, HBO Go expanded its service to include mobile apps for the iPhone, the iPad, and Android devices. HBO Go has also expanded the amount of content available through the streaming service, including every episode of all HBO series (both those still on the air and those longer in production).

As we’ve pointed out before, services such as HBO Go are attempts by cable and satellite companies to retain subscribers at a time when more Internet options are becoming available. We will be taking HBO Go for a test run here at the labs, so check back with our electronics news for an update.
