Since 3D TV is really a system, LG thinks you may want everything you need—a 3D TV, a 3D Blu-ray player, and 3D glasses—all in one package. As part of a new 3D bundle, you can get a new Cinema-series passive 3D TV, a 3D Blu-ray player, and four pairs of passive 3D glasses all packed in one box.

The LG Cinema 3D entertainment packages will be available this month in 47- and 55-inch screen sizes, at suggested retail prices of $1,400 and $1,900, respectively. The LCD TVs—new models that lack the Smart TV feature found on LG's LW5600- and LW6500-series Cinema 3D model—don't have individual model numbers, but the entire package is model LW5300, if you'd like to search for it.

The 1080p LCD TVs, which aren't available outside of the bundle, feature LG's TruMotion Plus 120Hz technology to reduce motion blur and use edge-LED backlights with local dimming. Both also include the company's Picture Wizard II self-calibration guide, and a built-in sensor that automatically adjusts picture brightness to room lighting and color conditions. The 3D Blu-ray player—model BD645, which is also available only via this bundle—has a 2D-to-3D conversion feature that can convert 2D programs and movies to quasi-3D. Like other Cinema-series 3D TVs, the bundle includes four sets of passive, polarized 3D glasses, which require neither a battery nor the need to sync to the TV.

So is this bundle a good deal for potential 3D fans? Not at the suggested retail prices, since we saw LG's 47-inch LW5600-series sets, which has more features—including LG's Smart TV platform—at Amazon.com for $1,055. It's priced at $1,060 at Best Buy. Fortunately, several retailers that are offering this bundle are pricing it below the $1,400 suggested price. Best Buy, for example, is currently offering the bundle for just under $1,100, a more attractive offer.

If you're considering a 3D TV system, let us know what you think of the idea of combining the TV, 3D Blu-ray player, and glasses all in one package, and whether the price on LG's bundle is low enough to entice you. Also, we'd like to know if you've made a decision about whether active or passive 3D TV systems (if either) make the most sense for your family.
