Vizio, a brand known for its HDTVs, will expand it moniker to multimedia computers, the company announced today at the 2012 CES trade show in Las Vegas.

The computer line, powered by Microsoft Windows 7 and expected to be available in the U.S. this spring, will include two all-in-one desktop PCs and three notebooks—two of them "thin and light" models. Although exact details have yet to be released, Vizio says the computers are aimed at consumers who want PCs for entertainment, rather than work, purposes. Chief Technology Officer Matt McRae said in Vizio's press release this morning:

Our new line of VIZIO PCs are truly high quality and consumer focused, delivering enhanced multimedia capabilities while upholding our high standards of performance, style and design.

Consumer Reports is attending the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. We'll have more details—including video—of Vizio's jump into PCs as well as other news soon.

UPDATE: Our video on the new Vizio personal computers at the 2012 CES trade show has been posted on Consumer Reports online.
