All students need computers these days. But what's right for a college student staying in a dorm may not be the best choice for a sixth-grader at home.

Senior electronics editor Donna Tapellini has some computer recommendations for younger students, those in high school, and college students, at a couple of price points for each. She visited Dave Graveline's Into Tomorrow radio show to share some of her picks.

For more details on these computers and lots of advice and tips on shopping for everything you'll need for the coming school year, take a look at our free Back to school shopping guide at ConsumerReports.org.

Each week, Consumer Reports experts produce a short audio segment about consumer electronics and technology for "Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline." The recording featured here was aired on the prior weekend's broadcast. "Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline" covers the latest in consumer electronics and technology available today and into tomorrow. The show airs on more than 180 AM and FM radio stations around the U.S. and can be heard globally through various sources—including America's Armed Forces Networks and podcasts of previous "Into Tomorrow" episodes.
