Olympus has announced two new 16-megapixel SLR-like models that sport a very quick 8 frames-per-second burst mode, which is fast for this class of cameras: The Pen Lite E-PL5 costs $650 (body-only) or $700 (with a 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 lens). The Pen mini E-PM2, costs $550 (body-only) or $600 (with a 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 lens).

Both include a number of other notable features, including 3-inch touchscreen LCDs with touch-to-focus. The ISO range is 100-25,600 and there are 12 art filters. The E-PL5 alone features a changeable handgrip and swiveling touchscreen.

Olympus also announced a 60mm f/2.8 macro lens, $500, for use with Pen mirrorless models and other micro 4/3rds cameras. The company claims the lens is ideal for close-up photography.

In addition to the new Pens, Olympus introduced the 12-megapixel Stylus XZ-2, an advanced point-and-shoot, with a 4x optical zoom lens (28mm-112mm), bright f/1.8-2.5 aperture, and hybrid control ring around the lens for adjusting several settings, including focus, zoom or aperture.

The Pen cameras and macro lens will be available in October and the Stylus in November.
