How common is epilepsy?

Epilepsy is one of the most common brain disorders. Anyone can get epilepsy at any age.

More than 2 million Americans have epilepsy. That's around 1 in every 150 people.

Each year, about 180,000 people in the United States find out they have epilepsy. Although it can begin at any age, it usually starts in young children or older people.
