The feet beat
Illustration of a test for clogged leg arteries
To test for clogged leg arteries, your doctor should first check the pulses at the top of each foot and the inside of each ankle. If those pulses aren’t robust, the doctor should perform an ankle-brachial index test, which compares the blood pressure in your arm with the pressure at your ankle. An ultrasound can confirm the diagnosis and identify the specific blockages.
