Questions to ask your doctor

Being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma can be distressing. You may find it hard to think of everything you want to ask your doctor.

If you have been told that you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, then it might help to make a list of questions to ask your doctor.

Questions you might want to ask
  • What kind of lymphoma do I have?
  • How far has it spread?
  • Why do I need so many tests?
  • What kind of treatment will I need?
  • Am I being treated at a cancer center where the doctors are used to dealing with my kind of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma?
  • Does this center do research on new treatments for my kind of lymphoma?
  • Can we talk about the pros and cons of taking part in a study of new treatments?
  • Will treatment stop me from working, running a household or looking after the kids?
  • What are the main side effects? Will it be painful?
  • Will I be able to have any more children?
  • Where can I go for help and support? Who can I talk to?
