Liquids can yield solid weight gain

Average U.S. calorie intake has gone up over the past few decades, and about half this increase comes from sweetened beverages, according to a proposed guidance system for beverage consumption published in the March 2006 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Here are the calorie counts for some of the heftier beverages:
