Beware of risky herb-drug combos
Herbal remedies can interact dangerously with medications. This table lists nine top-selling herbal supplement and some common drugs that may interact with them*. If you take medication or have a chronic disease, consult with your doctor before using herbs. And if you're already taking an herb, be sure to tell your doctor when he or she prescribes you a medication. Drugs may be available in additional brand names or as generics. Check our Prescription Drugs section for duplicate names, or ask your doctor. And for more on herb-drug interactions, see our Interaction Checker (subscribers only).

* Note that some interactions are theoretical or based on test-tube or animal studies.
