Here's how more than 6,000 ConsumerReports.org subscribers answered that question. For the most part, readers got it right, our medical advisers say, although rubbing alcohol and single-ingredient cold remedies are better choices than hydrogen peroxide or multisymptom medications. Almost half of the respondents said it's at least somewhat difficult to read dosage instructions on over-the-counter pain medications or to open the bottles.
