Drugstore costs

Shown below are the median costs we found for a 30-day supply of five common prescription medications at pharmacies across the country, as well as the overall median for the major pharmacy types. We checked 8 Web sites, 15 independent pharmacies, and 12 stores each for most of the mass merchants, supermarkets, and drug chains. (The table does not list specific independent pharmacies because they are not accessible to the majority of our readers.) Drug prices were checked from June 29 to Aug. 3, 2006.
