How common is schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia happens all around the world.

Schizophrenia affects a similar amount of people in every country.1

Researchers have found that:

  • At any one time, between 5 in 1,000 and about 15 in 1,000 adults have schizophrenia.2
  • The chance of getting schizophrenia at some point in your life is about 10 in 1,000.1
  • Men and women get schizophrenia in equal numbers. Men tend to be affected at a younger age than women. But, women may get a milder form of schizophrenia than men.1
