How common is burning mouth syndrome?
Burning mouth syndrome is common among older women.
As many as 33 in 100 women have symptoms of burning mouth syndrome after menopause.1
It's much less common in men and in younger women. One study found that 2 in 100 men and 5 in 100 younger women had the symptoms of burning mouth syndrome.2
