Changes in your body during menopause
Physical changes are common during the time around menopause. You may gain weight around your waist and you may lose muscle. Your skin might become thinner and lose its elasticity so you get more wrinkles and lines.1 Some women also have pain in their joints and muscles and feel stiffer and less limber.
Researchers aren't sure whether these changes are linked to the changes in the levels of hormones that happen during menopause, or whether they are part of the general process of getting older.
