    The Haier HCR6250AGS is part of the Range test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Pro-style range models like the HCR6250AGS are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

    Cooktop high: This reflects how quickly the most powerful element could raise a 6-liter (6 1/3 quart) pot of water from room temperature to a near boil.

    Cooktop low: This reflects the ability of the lowest power element to melt and hold chocolate without scorching it. We also set the most powerful element to its lowest setting to test its ability to hold a large pot of tomato sauce below a boil.

    Baking: This reflects the evenness of cookies and cakes in multi-rack baking tests.

Upscale models generally have beefier grates made of porcelain-coated cast iron. These grates are also sometimes continuous, covering the whole cooktop. This allows you to easily slide pots on and off the burner. The most expensive, pro-style ranges typically have even-heavier cast-iron grates that are almost always of the continuous design.

    Oven rack positions Oven rack positions Most ranges have five rack positions, and some pro-style models have just three. Six positions adds baking and broiling versatility. Ranges that have an additional "roasting position" can support a rack in an extra-low position close to the oven floor, to accommodate large roasts. However, a rack in this position doesn't pull out to a stop as it does in other positions, or may not pull out at all.
