Can steam to other Sonos components, but does not receive content via Wi-Fi unless used with at least one other Sonos component; the least expensive option for Wi-Fi operation is the Sonos Bridge ($50). Stereo audio output when oriented horizontally, mono when oriented vertically. Software installed on the home network computer during setup acts as system control. A free remote control App can be downloaded to iPhone or Android smartphones. The Sonos system can stream audio from Internet radio, the home network computer, and iPhones/iPod Touches/iPads or Android smartphones or tablets that are being used as remote controls. Audio can be streamed to additional Sonos speaker systems in up to 32 separate rooms from up to 32 different sources. Optional analog audio input (can conect analog audio device and than stream to Sonos speakers) via Sonos Play:5 ($399), Sonos Connect ($349), or Sonos Connect:Amp ($499) used on the same network. Two Play:3s can be used together as a two speaker stereo system, a Sonos Sub ($699) can be added to create a 2.1 channel system (single Play:3 and Sub or two Play:3s used as a stereo pair and Sub), and two Play:3s can be used with the Sonos Playbar ($699), with or without the Sonos Sub, as the rear channels of a 5.0 or 5.1 channel system.
