Poised to compete with segment heavy hitters, the Acura TLX doesn't have what it takes to play in the big leagues. While it is a good overall performer, the TLX lacks the engaging performance and panache found in other upscale sedans. Measured against its European and Japanese rivals, the TLX's handling falls short and its ride isn't as comfortable.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Great value for the money! Reliable, fun to drive! Great handling and accelerating! Much more for the money than a BMW!"

Anonymous, TX (2017 Acura TLX)

"BAD! In stop-start-change speed town driving, the 10-speed transmission serms to continually be hunting for the correct gear. Probably a software issue."

Anonymous, VA (2017 Acura TLX)

"Excellent and enjoy driving it. Drove recently over 20 hours around new Hampshire and Vermont and enjoyed"

Richard C., NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"Too many gears, 9 speed automatic trans"

Peter M., CA (2017 Acura TLX)

"Believe the push button gears are dangerous and confusing. New models should have a gear shift."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"very good"

Anonymous, FL (2017 Acura TLX)

"very stylish inside and out. Quiet and smooth."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Acura TLX)

"The car handles well and is very responsive to the driver's commands. Entering highways is smooth with adequate power and braking when necessary is excellent."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"Handling And Cruise control excellent. Acceleration is not great and takes long to réaction. It is not an exciting car to drive but a good car for a person of my age."

Anonymous, QC (2017 Acura TLX)

"handling is excellent, but the car judders when decelerating to a stop"

Eric A., NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"Love it"

Anonymous, MN (2017 Acura TLX)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Driver's seat bottom is definitely unsuitable for long drives. Actually painful to the buttocks. Simply not padded enough. Bought driving cushion. Noise is more than I would like, but okay. Ride is superb. Feel I'm in complete control of car even at 85 mph legal western US interstate speeds"

Franklin J., AL (2017 Acura TLX)

"I’ve been driving Honda’s and Acura’s for nearly 25 years . I am very happy with the seat comfort and the ride and noise level of this vehicle. I’ve never driven the current Honda Accord but the previous model doesn’t compare in my opinion other than it’s certainly more spacious"

Michael R., NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"Ride noise is very low. Ride is very comfortable."

Ted S., OR (2017 Acura TLX)

"The seats are comfortable and give full support to the body. There are positions that make it ideal for most drivers."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Acura TLX)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Great value for the money! Reliable, fun to drive! Great handling and accelerating! Much more for the money than a BMW!"

Anonymous, TX (2017 Acura TLX)

"I was originally going to look at the Audi A4, which I’m sure is a great vehicle. To get the same features in that vehicle it would cost to much. They get the same gas mileage but you can put regular gas in the acura 4 cylinder and save more money."

Michael R., NY (2017 Acura TLX)

"Reasonably priced for what we got."

Ted S., OR (2017 Acura TLX)
