The Buick LaCrosse was a welcomed replacement for the outdated Century and Regal sedans, but it still fell far below class leaders. It has a comfortable and quiet ride, as well as responsive handling. There's good attention to detail in the front cabin, but the rear seat is very tight. The 3.8-liter V6 in our tested CXL version was coarse and fuel economy was unimpressive.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

“The 2006 Buick Lacrosse (although 10 years old and after 145k miles) still handles extremely well in all driving conditions (wet, snow). Although acceleration and gas mileage have gradually reduced over time from original levels, this car remains very safe (and agile).”

DAVID M., MO (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“The handling is not good. Poor suspension and poor braking.”

What Owners Say

“The six disc CD changer is great. I understand that is no longer available.”

GARY C., SD (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“seats are not comfortable”

SUE H., VA (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“is comfortable on long trips, doors close like doors should. is quiet”

Anonymous, NV (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“The front seats hit my low back in an uncomfortable way. Some cars allow you to adjust the lower back, which I like, which this car does not. This car adjusts the angle of the back and the forward/back of the front seats. I find the dashboard complex so hard to figure out when I'm stopped, but even harder if I'm driving and need to adjust heat, fan, trip odometer, gas use etc. Headroom is good for those that wear hats with crowns while driving. Only one key entry on the whole car is chal”

JOYCE D., MA (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“low noise in passenger compartment”

“I thought I was buying the top of the line model of the Lacrosse when I got this CXL, but it did not come with many options. It has abs brakes, climate control a/c, cd player w/radio, 6 way power drivers seat, power mirrors, and airbags. Nothing else. I was expecting to get more options for the money. The body has very thin metal and lots of plastic. I would not buy this car again.”

PATRICK B., PA (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“Interior quality is less than I expected for a Buick.”

Anonymous, GA (2006 Buick LaCrosse)

“I paid $13,000 for this car in 2008 when ir had 29,000 miles on it. It hasn't had a major problem of any kind. I'd do it all over again, for certain.”

ROBERTA P., MI (2006 Buick LaCrosse)
