What you don't get in sophistication you get in raw power. The end of the road, however, is near for GM's rear-wheel-drive Camaro and Pontiac Firebird muscle cars. Despite a 325-hp version of the Chevrolet Corvette's 5.7-liter V8 and available convertible models, they're among GM's slowest sellers. Both are too bulky to be nimble. They also ride uncomfortably.

Chevrolet Camaro Road Test

What you don't get in sophistication you get in raw power. The end of the road, however, is near for GM's rear-wheel-drive Camaro and Pontiac Firebird muscle cars. Despite a 325-hp version of the Chevrolet Corvette's 5.7-liter V8 and available convertible models, they're among GM's slowest sellers. Both are too bulky to be nimble. They also ride uncomfortably. Traction control is a worthwhile option, especially in V8-powered models. Muscle cars as a class can also be hideously expensive to insure, particularly if there's a young male driver in the family.
