This iteration of the Equinox is spacious with a roomy rear seat and easy access. Ride and interior noise are improved. However, handling remains clumsy, even with electronic stability control. And, the body leans a lot in turns. The V6 offers adequate power, but sounds coarse and gets mediocre fuel economy. Curtain airbags were made standard for 2009 (they were previously an option).

Reliability

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for about 329,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2020 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

So when I go in for an oil and lube, I tell them the fuse blew again. They always ask are holding it a long time, and the answer is no. I push it once or twice and if I get nothing I stop. Last time I was in they want to replace the motor. Oh ya now that it is out of warranty, and I have been complaining about it since I first purchased itl"

Robert L., WI (2008 Chevrolet Equinox LT 3.6-L V6)

"Rear wiper motor failed and it continues to send power to the wiper motor even after the car is off and key has been removed. This drains the battery. We replaced the motor and it failed a second time. The replacement was a factory replacement"
