This version of the Impala hadn't changed much since its introduction for the 2000 model year. It handles fairly well and provides very good acceleration. But it isn't particularly well-finished. In addition, the ride is unsettled, the interior is noisy, fit and finish are subpar and the seats are uncomfortable.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Anonymous, NJ (2004 Chevrolet Impala)

“The traction control harness was replaced. It (traction control) always seems to be having a problem. The car was riddled with problems when I got it: the lights failed completely one dark night due to the turn signal switch needing to be replaced; the small motors for the speed and fuel indicators failed and needed to be replaced on the dash circuit board; the pressure control fault is faulty in the transmission, causing a hard shift from stop to 1st. However, the ride is exceptional.”

If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
