This revised version of the Tahoe has its good points, but the SUV remains a big hulk that handles clumsily and thirsts for gasoline. On the upside, it delivers readily available power, rides pretty well, its cavernous cabin stays quiet and it offers generous second-row seating. The six-speed automatic transmission also brings some improvement in acceleration and fuel economy. Towing heavy loads is another forte.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Very poor handling... Mushy and soft on the road. When hitting dips in the road, it feels like you are on a boat in the ocean, riding the swells. It is not firm and feels very soft. Cruise control is very poor! It will hold you speed on level roadways, but you go up or down hills the speed can very as much as 5 to 10 mph before adjusting speeds. Very poor acceleration response"

Matthew M., CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Acceleration is sluggish and handling is loose."

Derek W., MA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"I own a boat and I find the Tahoe to be a very good tow vehicle, especially the V8 engine."

John C., FL (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"pick up is great.. i make a lot of u-turns where i live and the radius is fantastic for an SUV"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"This is my third Chevrolet SUV. I previously owned two Suburbans. With each newer model the handling has improved substantially. The braking on my Tahoe is excellent for such a heavy vehicle. Cornering and acceleration are very good. I have had to make an occasional emergency maneuver and always felt in control."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"my Tahoe accelerates very fast and handles on the roadway and around curves like a car. it has a very quiet and smooth quiet ride."

Ronald T., CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

Clark L., CO (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Very spacious and comfortable"

Glenn G., TX (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"Drive seat doesn't have enough padding. There is a lot of wind noise around the doors. Drivers front door rattles. The back bumper and rear end has developed a bad rattle."

James B., AL (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"very comfortable and quiet. great leg room front and rear."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"The seats are extremely comfortable on long trips and the ride is quiet and comfortable."

Anonymous, AL (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"It was not my vehicle of choice. It was my husband's choice. I would have preferred a luxury car. While the Tahoe is a nice vehicle, it has more truck characteristics that I like."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"This is a large truck so comfort isn't and shouldn't be an issue. The front seats are very comfortable, can't say much for the back seats, I'm never back there. You can hear the engine roar sometimes but noise isn't a problem. The ride is a little stiff but it's a truck, that's to be expected."

Dianne C., PA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"cooling fan noise"

David L., AL (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)

"i am 5'4" 125 the seats are great for my shorter legs. i sat in several cars before buying and theses seats are the beat"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Chevrolet Tahoe)
