Chrysler might have invented the modern minivan, but time has marched on, leaving the Dodge Grand Caravan feeling dated and past its prime. At least the GC’s ride is very comfortable and settled, and passengers will find a quiet, well-equipped cabin that offers considerable versatility. Both the second- and third-row seats can fold away into the floor, a big convenience for times you need to maximize cargo space.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"6-speed transmission awkward and not quick in lower ranges"

Anonymous, IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The ease of driving"

Rebecca H., AZ (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The transmission is jarring on initial engagement it is unrefined. The van is hard to feather ahead or backwards, when parking."

Mike F., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"My previous mini-van was a '99 Plymouth Voyager and it handled better than the Caravan, but the Caravan handles better than the reports I've read though it could be better. At one time I drove sports cars and like to drive! And appreciate something with decent handling."

Anonymous, FL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very good acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The vehicle has a powerful engine that helps when acceleration is needed"

Anonymous, QC (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"fron tires seem to slip no matter how slow or road surface type I'm on"

James W., MO (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Very powerful engine for a van. Shifting is quiet and smooth. Once you replace the OEM tires the handling becomes pretty taught for such a large vehicle. Much better than a Honda CRV on a ramp for example"

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"For what I was looking for this vehicle meets all of my expectations."

Thomas V., OH (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It always is responsive with the 3.6 engine. Yes it leans in a turn but the rear coil springs are an improvement over the 2007 model. This can keep up with traffic. Steering is straight and responsive. I have General RT43 tires. Sometimes they make it feel that the tread is made of nails."

Creighton M., NY (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The Caravan is more comfortable to drive than my F-150, handles better and has better acceleration, all for a far better price."

Anonymous, MI (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The Caravan acceleration is very responsive which surprised me. Also, the highway gas mileage is often high, 28 mpg or more. When I purchased this vehicle, I would have been pleased with 24 mpg."

Anonymous, MN (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"hate engine. it takes anywhere from 4-6 times of shifting before levels out."

Mary B., IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Wheels actually will spin if you press gas to hard from a stopped position good power"

Ron M., NS (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Outstanding! Most comfortable car I have ever owned."

Robert G., CA (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The seats in the 2015 versus the 2001 Grand Caravan are no where near as comfortable, especially on long trips."

Anonymous, MD (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It’s comfortable to travel in, rides well, is quiet"

Jack B., FL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Road noise is excessive on concrete roads."

Anonymous, FL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"It is a minivan that drives as good as any seday"

Ron B., NY (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I'm 6'2" and the seats and seating position work very well for me. Seats are supportive and in a nice upright position. Comfortable for long rides."

Anonymous, NY (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Front and third row seats are comfortable, even for long trips. Second row seat (bench) is uncomfortable. Both noise and ride are very acceptable."

Clement L., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Being a senior citizen I have some arthritis and the Grand Caravan is easy to enter and exit. The seats are ok but not as good as the flat ones in my sons 2009 f-150 or my son-in-laws 2007 Honda Odyssey. The auto companies make us ride with our knees higher than our hips unless we pay a high price.. For the $19000 I paid for this AVP with 6000 miles on it was a good deal."

Creighton M., NY (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I use this vehicle for work and love the fold in floor seats, I use it as a truck as often as moving people"

Dan M., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The seats in the rear are not the most comfortable."

Mike F., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"After driving/riding a while the seats seem to get harder/ more unconfortable as the miles gon by"

James W., MO (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"The two front seats are excellent. The folding rear seats are used for shorter drives when transporting people."

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"There is a fair amount of road and wind noise, some depending on the tires, the Michelins make more noise on some pavements than the original Kumo tires."

Anonymous, FL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"I bought this with an iPad - during the winter -during a February snow storm. I got it for $17,900."

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"You get a vehicle that will haul a 4x8-ft. sheet of plywood flat on the floor. You can put a RANS Screamer recumbent tandem bicycle inside without taking the seats off of the bike. I can haul around 7 people at once. The seats fold flat into the floor. If I'm traveling and can't find a suitable place to spend the night, or I'm too cheap to opt for a hotel, I can sleep in the vehicle. I can go more than 500 miles on a tank of gas while on road trips. What's not to like?"

Thomas V., OH (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"very good value for the money"

Anonymous, IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Looking to haul other people in comfort and ability to haul camping equipment."

Anonymous, PA (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"I bought this base model for Cad$200,300 (or about US$14,000 at that time), brand new. How can you beat that? Also, no problem was experienced in the past 3 years. This base model probably has a lot less electronic stuff to break down."

Clement L., ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"BIG DURABLE HAULING VEHICLE THAT GETS REASONABLE FUEL ECONOMY."

Tom M., MN (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"One of the best buys on the market for 7 passenger seating. Decent but dated style, good handling, good gas mileage, and fair to good seating (front) while on long trips. Also with stow and go seating cargo capacity is better than any known competitor."

Dennis H., FL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Although not recommended by CR, this minivan fits my needs, both as a people hauler and as a cargo van. For instance, I need to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood and I don't have time to remove seats each time I do. I treat the Caravan gently, so I know reliability will not be a problem. On a 1,000+ mile round trip, I averaged 29.2 mpg."

Anonymous, MI (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"We got a great financing deal for buying our 2015 Caravan in November of 2015 when they wanted to get rid of the 2015 models. The van left had many extra features we would normally not have been able to afford, but we were offered a great price and warranty due to it being the end of the calendar year."

Anonymous, IL (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"well built vehicle with flexibility in carrying people or hauling stuff"

Anonymous, WI (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Absolutely the most vehicle per dollar in Canada. Great ride, engine, reliability (no repairs to date after 3+ years) and convenience. Carries up to 7 people with luggage or 2 people with a full load of furniture, renovation material, tools, sporting goods - what ever you want."

Anonymous, ON (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)

"Great gas mileage handles well"

Ron M., NS (2015 Dodge Grand Caravan)
